i cant even count how many times i’ve heard that.
i’ve gotten used to it. or at least i thought i did.
i head that a priest made a comment while the youth group was mentioned in a meeting.
but not just any priest, a priest that i really look up to and i thought looked well on us. But if he thinks that YFL is just a “Filipino” group then he is hecka wrong!
this community is much bigger then that! this community incorporates all types of people! yes the majority of the members are Filipino, thats a given and due to the fact that the group was born in the Phils, but the demographic of the community will never change or become more diverse if people, specially the clergy, limit us as Filipino. The Hispanic community will continue to be stunned as long as the Hispanic clergy continue to ignore this movement.
Its a self fulfilling prophecy…. YFL will never stop being the Filipino group until people stop looking at YFL as the Filipino group.
but seriously….i never expected that comment from that priest…
Et tu Pater?! Et Tu?!

thats why sometimes when we evangelize non-filipino ppl, they’re kind of hesitant… just coz they think YFL is a filipino group. -___-
